Community Care: Supporting Access to Healthcare for All in Harnett County
Harnett County Economic Development is dedicated to enhancing healthcare access through strategic partnerships. On January 31, 2025, Cape Fear Valley Health broke ground on a new inpatient adolescent center at Brightwater Technology Park in Lillington.
This state-of-the-art, 8,850-square-foot facility will provide 16 inpatient beds for psychiatric patients aged 12 to 17, addressing the growing need for adolescent behavioral health services. The $8.4 million project, funded primarily by the Dorothea Dix Hospital Property Fund and the State Capital and Infrastructure Fund, is set for completion by December 2025.
This project builds on the ongoing momentum of healthcare investments in Brightwater Technology Park. In August 2023, Harnett County Economic Development, alongside community partners, celebrated the groundbreaking of a three-story, 70,000-square-foot Medical Arts Complex, anchored by the new Cancer Center. Read more about that milestone here.
These developments were made possible through years of collaboration among county and state officials, the Golden LEAF Foundation’s Community-Based Grants Initiative (CBGI), and a local match from Harnett County Government. Additionally, Harnett County's economic development partner, the Harnett Economic Development Corporation (HEDC), played a key role in advancing healthcare expansion by facilitating the sale of 26 acres across 11 lots in Brightwater Technology Park to Cape Fear Valley Health in August 2023.
