After 64 years of success in the tractor, golf, and turf industries, Revels selects Harnett County for a new 30,090-square-foot facility.
Harnett County, N.C. - November 19, 2024 - Revels Turf & Tractor, one of John Deere’s largest global distributors, has chosen Harnett County to relocate their operations to expand on their 64 years of service in the tractor, golf, and turf industries. The third-generation company, which employs 105 across sales, support, and service, will relocate its operations to a new 30,090-square-foot facility at 5118 Rawls Church Road in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.
John Deere is the official equipment supplier of the PGA Tour, along with Revels Turf & Tractor, they supply essential equipment such as mowers, aerators, and utility vehicles for golf courses and sports fields, including National Football League (NFL) and Major League Baseball (MLB) stadiums. Serving both commercial and residential clients, Revels offers new and used John Deere equipment, leasing, and comprehensive support through its Integrated Solutions For Golf Courses (ISG) Department.
Nearly all the equipment sold by Revels Turf & Tractor is proudly manufactured at the John Deere Factory in Fuquay-Varina, showing the company’s commitment to supporting local manufacturing.
Their extensive service network spans ten states - North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan - ensuring efficient and sustainable turf care across the Eastern and Central United States.
The new facility in Harnett County doubles the size of the previous location on US Highway 401 (North Main Street) in the Town of Fuquay-Varina. After two years of careful planning, the company will open its doors to the newly constructed operations center in late November.
“This new facility is designed for future growth with a focus on technology,” said Anthony Revels, CEO and third-generation leader of the company. This new facility features a dedicated technology wing with a call center that will eventually house 24/7 customer support. It also includes conference spaces, expanded parts storage, an improved shop, and a specialized area for grinding mower blades for its local customers.
In addition to its forward-thinking layout, Revels focused on enhancing employee well-being, productivity, and communication. “This design was a collaborative process,” shared Revels. “I asked our employees what they wanted to see in this space, and we incorporated their ideas into the design.”
Also included is a dedicated fitness center, kitchen and dining areas, meeting spaces, and air conditioning in the shop, which is especially important during the summer months. When asked about the impact of the relocation on the 50 current employees, Revels shared that there was a lot of excitement about moving to the new facility, particularly since more than half of the staff reside in Harnett County and will enjoy an easier commute.
Revels Turf & Tractor began in 1961 as a small repair service for lawn mowers and chainsaws, eventually growing into a John Deere dealership. In the 1980s, second-generation leader, Turner Revels, saw the future of the turf side of the business and by 1986, the company had expanded into the golf and turf maintenance market.
“The first five years were tough getting into the golf and turf industry,” said Turner Revels. “But we listened to our customers and have grown into a Top Dealer for John Deere – it has been a long and rewarding journey,” he added.
Revels established its Myrtle Beach, South Carolina location in 1987. In 2007, Revels Tractor Co. Inc. merged with Quality Equipment, LLC, evolving into Revels Turf & Tractor. In 2019 and 2021, Revels further expanded its territory and strengthened its presence across the Carolinas and Virginia.
“Welcoming Revels Turf & Tractor to Harnett County is a proud moment for our community,” said Angie Stewart, Harnett County’s Senior Economic Developer. “As a longstanding company and global leader in the golf and turf industries, Revels brings a wealth of innovation and expertise, and we’re honored that they have chosen Harnett County to call home. We look forward to the positive impact they will have and their role in further strengthening our business community.”
The former Revels Turf & Tractor Fuquay-Varina location in Wake County is set to be repurposed into a dedicated training facility, which will be shared with Quality Equipment.
